The Bread4Life Food Pantry was founded in March 2010 to assist the people in rural Alvarado, Tx by providing food to those who needed it.  Kathy Hogan the founder realized that there wasn’t any food pantries in the rural areas of America.  They seemed to be located in the towns but not out where they were truly needed.

She also saw that the food pantries that were available only provided, on average, 3 days worth of food to a family.  On top of that the family could only come to that pantry once a month.  And the food they provided resembled more of a stock pile of left overs than food that families actually ate.

Add to that, each family had to fill out extensive forms and provide proof of this or that….

Kathy thought there had to be a better way, something that thought of the people and not of their bottom line or how they were going to keep their state funding.

Bread4Life Food Pantry is privately funded and only asks that people give their name and contact number so we can alert them of changes to our schedule.  We also realize that a family eats more than 3 days a month.  That’s why everybody that comes to our food pantry receives a week’s worth of food and they can come back the next week.  While you’re there getting your box(es) of food we serve children friendly dinners so no one walks away hungry.

Once you get back on your feet and no longer need our assistance, if you feel like making a donation.., well.., we won’t say no.  We have a lot of people to feed.
